Pointless rant from a Fangirl: Those Pairings
When you're a fangirl or shipper or just fan of a series, there are some people you like as a couple. Whether or not you officially ship them or just don't mind them being together. You see absolutely nothing wrong with it.
You find out there's a pairing with two people you like, and it's used often in fan works so has some appeal to fans.
You can love these two characters, but you absolutely hate them together.
And you can't stand when you find them as a side-pairing in a fanfic or something.
Or it just appears as its own.
And you absolutely HATE it.
It doesn't even matter if it makes another pairing you like impossible, it's because you see that pairing just doesn't work.
I feel sooo bad when I feel like that. I almost never had so much contempt over pairings I did not like- it either didn't bother me because I'm not a big fan for the characters or it didn't influence my OTP.
Take Shikamaru from Naruto- I really wouldn't care less if he went with Temari, Ino, or Chouji. Out of the 3 possible choices, the one I like the least is ShikaIno, but it doesn't matter. I can live with it. It seems they would be fine.
Go into Bleach- I can't decide which is better- HitsuMomo or HitsuMatsu. One makes 2 ships survive while the other sinks 2. I only ever see either as a side pairing, so I don't mind seeing either pairing, depending on the author/artists and their own views. Again, I find nothing wrong with how their interact differently.
But then. There are two series I love.
And two couples I hate.
Driving me insane, and making me uncomfortable whenever I see ANY hint of them.
Uhura and Spock, and Prussia and Hungary.
WWWHHHYYY?!!!
The thing is, it's not that I hate Uhura or Spock as a character or anything, but it's because of them being together in the movie.
It.Never.Happened.In.The.Original.Series.
See, the best choice for Uhura back in TOS was Kirk. They had even kissed! Spock had his own thing, and Kirk and Uhura were closer to canon-status that anyone else(mind it's TOS).
BUT IT SEEMS JJ ABRAMS WAS A FANBOY WITH CRACK PAIRINGS.
*cough*
And then, there's Prussia and Hungary.
I really can't see Hungary with anyone other than Austria in a serious, romantic relationship. I find it strange there seems to be fangirls out there that deny one of the only canon pairings in Hetalia just for some support in a slash pairing of theirs or something...
I like Austria and Hungary together.
I like Austria and Prussia.
Himaruya's hinted Prussia kinda depressed of some sort when he sees Austria and Hungary together.
Both having Prussia with feelings for Hungary?
Absolutely. Not.
I'm so sorry.
And they're always there as a side-pairing or I see fanworks of them, and I can't bear to look at it.
It just- doesn't work for me. They don't act well together, obvious in the manga.
It's like with the stereotype on how if you ship NaruHina in Naruto, you'll ship IchiHime in Bleach because it seems like they're the same type of pairing(when they're not, at all).
So, in essence, whenever I see a IchiRuki shipper who also ships in Naruto, it is most likely NaruSaku.
*Feels sick*
It's like... "I only like THIS type of couple! I ship it in every series, it's the only one I see!"
So I'm done ranting.
It's always been a big, big, thing to me.
And I do feel kind of hypocritical that I only like some threesomes like HungaryxAustriaxPrussia and PrussiaxGermanyxItaly ONLY IF Hungary and Prussia are interested in Austria only, and Prussia and Italy are only interest in Germany.
It's also true in Naruto and Bleach.
But not Star Trek.
Well, actually yes, since I guess I just want everyone to love Kirk.
