Fandom: Bleach IchigoxRukia, slight Rukia/Kaien

Disclaimer: Bleach by Kubo. Spoilers all the way up to recent chapters, the rest about the Winter War is made up.
Summary: They were nakama. That was always obvious to everyone around them- but he always thought more- but did she? Wasn't he even important enough to know what had happened to her when they went to save Orihime? He had to ask. After Winter War

I had actually started this during the middle of my hiatus, but it was pretty dumb, so revising was a bitch, and I still probably could have done better, but I just wanted to bring out a new fanfic after hiatus.The thing is I just love this type of scenario- Ichigo most definitely has feelings for Rukia, and she tells him about Kaien.
The fact is I was actually thinking of an AU about it, but it's so stupid, OOC, and such Rukia fanservice you won't even get from Fade to Black because well- it's AU. I don't know about doing it, though. I'll definitely keep it in mind though.
Anyway- I know Ichigo's thoughts during their whole conversation seemed- jarring, didn't fix it.
On the whole Winter War issue- I tried to explain the gist of what happened. Soul Society won, but Aizen managed to get away from them. No one except Gin, Tousen, all of the espada under Aizen, and unimportant shinigami were killed, only severely injured. Hope some took the small hint about Inoue, Ishida, and Chad being at the 4th division head quarters. Ishida and Chad are both still recovering, and Inoue is healing the wounded. Poor 'hime had a big job during the whole Winter War.
I could've added another made-up detail like Rukia almost dying again during the war, but that's so old, and I only wanted to focus on her battle with the Noveno Espada.
And yes, I have the tendency to do the whole IchigoRukiaKaien line/triangle (I don't know what to call it... Kaien surely didn't have romantic feelings for Rukia like she did) But then again the ending DID end on a happy, IchiRuki note. I definitely like oblivious!Rukia who does love Ichigo and Ichigo is well... Ichigo. Haha.
Why would the Kuchiki mansion have no food? They were using the rest to serve to the family, so a couple can't just have some- they can later.
